Mark Wilson anchors NewsEdge at 11 p.m. weeknights on FOX 13 and produces special reports throughout the week.
When he was just 10 years old he was cast as a roving reporter in his church variety show and since then he's enjoyed pursuing adventurous and compelling stories. So Mark brings more than a decade of versatile award-winning reporting experience to FOX 13 and a strong familiarity of the Tampa Bay area having grown up in St. Petersburg. An honors graduate at Florida State University, he spent two years in Raleigh anchoring the station's top-rated weekend newscasts and served as a regional correspondent for NBC News.
He realized a lifelong dream when he joined FOX 13 in 1997, which gave him an opportunity to work closely with his father, FOX 13 anchor John Wilson. Since then he's flown an F-16 with the Air Force Thunderbirds and driven an Indy car on the streets of St. Pete, but has made a habit of reporting from the scenes of many major news events. Mark's been honored for his reports from ground zero in New York City, from New Orleans and the Gulf coast during and after Hurricane Katrina, but his greatest career thrill came in 2005 when he flew to Iraq. Mark joined a Blackhawk helicopter unit of Army Reservists based in Clearwater flying with them in and out of Baghdad. He received several honors for his special reports telling the stories of their sacrifices, successes, and challenges during the war.

Mark is a great friend. This picture was taken in the studio after we shot one of my appearances on Mark's show, The Lightning Round (clips on this site). His father, Johm, pictured with us is a local news legend here in Tampa and I had to have a picture with the legend!. I'm proud to know them and I thank Mark for having me as a guest on his program so frequently! |
